In a completely globalized world, and with the more and more expanded presence of immense and well-stocked hypermarkets, it seems almost predictable nowadays to find constantly any product regardless of the period of the year. On the contrary, it is really a unique feeling to be able to notice the gradual cycle of seasons simply observing the change of products displayed on the stalls of the fruit and vegetable market. Fresh onions and broad beans in March, the satisfaction of trying the first tasty strawberries in May, the solar explosion of the courgette flowers in late spring, the long-awaited arrival of the sweet and juicy peaches in June, the ruby-red pomegranates which announce in advance in autumn the arrival of the first cold weather of the season. Also the winter, the season when the land “lies fallow”, is however capable of giving us, for example, tasty artichokes or fragrant quinces. Then a new natural cycle starts again, during which, with daily gestures of agreement and handshakes with hands made horny and rough by the hard work in the fields, the relations with our reliable suppliers become consolidated.
